The official conditions are those in the published conditions book (which you may download or receive in the mail). If there is a discrepancy between the published book and the conditions shown below, the published conditions book conditions are the official conditions.

First Race — Washington DC International

The Charles E. Payne Perpetual Trophy

Purse $1000. Open flat for three year olds and up. Weights: three year olds, 150 lbs; older, 155 lbs. About one mile and six furlongs on the turf. Entry fee: $100. Trophy to owner of winning horse

Second Race — Preakness Amateur Rider Open Flat

The Peter Hitchen Memorial

Purse $1000. Amateur Open Flat. For three year olds and up. To be ridden by amateur riders. Weight; 165 lbs.. About one mile and one half on the turf. Entry fee: $100. Trophy to owner of the winning horse. Trophy to the winning amateur rider.

Third Race — Maiden Hurdle

The Alice Keech Perpetual Plate

Purse $1500. Maiden Hurdle. For three year olds and up that have never won over hurdles. Weights: three year olds, 150 lbs; older, 155lbs. About two miles over National Fences. Entry fee: $100. Trophy to owner of the winning horse.

Fourth Race — Preaknesss Open Timber

The Potomac Plate Perpetual Trophy

Purse $2500. Open Timber. For five year olds and up. Weights: five year old, 160 lbs; older, 165 lbs. About three miles and one quarter over timber. Entry fee: $100. Trophy to owner of winning horse.

Fifth Race — Junior Rider Race

Travilah Perpetual Cup

Flat. Open to Amateur riders, 15-18 years old, riding horses four years old and up. About one mile and one half on the turf. Conditions in the Maryland Condition Book. Entry fee: $50. Trophy to the owner of the winning horse.

Sixth Race — Preakness Open Hurdle

Purse $1500. Open Hurdle. For four year olds and up. Weights: four year olds, 150 lbs., older, 155 lbs. Winners preferred. About two miles and one furlong over National Fences. Entry fee: $100. Trophy to owner of the winning horse.

Seventh Race — Preakness Novice Timber

The Seneca Valley Perpetual Cup

Purse $2500. Novice timber. For five year olds and upward that have not won a timber race as of the first of the current year. Weight: 165 lbs. For each win since the first of the current year add 5 lbs. About three miles over timber. Entry fee: $100. Trohpy to the owner of the winning horse.

Eighth Race — Junior Flat Races - Ponies

Cpl. Kirk Bosselmann Memorial Races

Perpetual Trophy. Pony Flat Races. Open to juniors who have not reached their 16th birthday. Riders in this division who are 16 are not eligible for any other races of the day except the Young Adult Flat Race. Entries must be acceptable to the race committee. Entry fee: $25. Trophy to small, medium and large pony winners.
